How the daily fee is calculated

TFF calculates the fee per day and vehicle type, under §34 of the Traffic Damage Act. Each vehicle type and use has its own daily fee, based on the actual premiums insurers charge for vehicles in that category – not your specific vehicle's make, model year, bonus, or address. Been uninsured a long time? The fee automatically steps down: to 50 percent of the standard amount from day 91, and to 25 percent from day 181, with a floor of 7 SEK a day. The lowest total amount TFF charges for a new fee is 200 SEK.

Frequently asked questions about the calculation

Which days should I count?

The first day is the first day the vehicle was active and uninsured, for example the date of the ownership change. The last day is the last day the vehicle was uninsured – not the day the insurance started or the vehicle was taken off the road, but the day before that.

What happens over longer periods?

If the vehicle has been uninsured for more than 90 days, the calculator automatically lowers the fee, to 50 percent from day 91 and 25 percent from day 181, just like TFF's own calculation.

Is the result exact?

No, it's an estimate based on TFF's published daily fees. Your actual fee may differ slightly depending on exactly what TFF has on record in the vehicle register.
