QUICK ANSWER
If a company owns the vehicle, the ownership change in Sweden always has to be reported on the paper form (part 2 of the registration certificate) – the digital e-service is currently only available to private individuals. The ownership change applies from the date written on the form, but that date isn't the same as when the Swedish Transport Agency actually registers it. Take out traffic insurance from exactly the date given as the ownership-change date on the form, the same day it's signed.
Where it goes wrong
The Swedish Transport Agency has been clear that, for now, only private individuals can log in and complete an ownership change digitally. If the vehicle is registered to a company, an association, or any other legal entity, the report always has to be made on paper.
What goes wrong is taking out the insurance from the wrong date – for example the day the form is posted, or the day the change shows up in the register. The ownership change applies from the date on the form, and every day between that date and the start of the insurance becomes a fee day.
How to avoid it
Write the ownership-change date on the form, and take out the company's new traffic insurance from exactly that date – not the date you expect the Swedish Transport Agency to have processed it by. Do this the same day the form is signed, not when you post it or when you expect it to arrive.
Post the form the same day it's signed, using trackable mail if the amounts involved are large. Then check in My Pages or the app a few days later that the ownership change has been registered with the correct date.
